The same Customer Success Manager title can describe four materially different jobs. Identify ownership boundaries before optimizing resume keywords.

Carries direct, shared, or active operational responsibility for renewal strategy, risk, or retention results.
Identifies, supports, or owns growth opportunities within an existing customer portfolio.
Uses technical discovery, AI tools, integrations, or automation in customer work.
Document the customer segment, account complexity, stakeholder level, and any portfolio scale you can verify.
Describe a strategic enterprise portfolio; include account count or ARR only when documented, and never supply an unverifiable number.
Separate risk identification, renewal preparation, forecasting, negotiation, and final outcome ownership.
Show a verified risk-recovery or renewal contribution, but do not claim renewal ownership or a retention metric you did not own and validate.
Clarify whether you identified, qualified, influenced, handed off, or closed an expansion opportunity.
Name your actual commercial role; do not claim personal quota ownership or expansion revenue without supporting evidence.
Connect adoption work to a customer outcome using a review, baseline, usage signal, or other evidence you can support.
Describe how a QBR or EBR demonstrated value, while omitting any ROI or adoption number you cannot verify.
Record the products, integrations, analysis, AI tools, and automation you personally used in the customer workflow.
Explain your verified technical contribution without claiming implementation ownership, AI expertise, or measured impact you cannot prove.
Do not add a number you cannot verify.
